Lyrics

Everybody knows that you can't trust an octopus
Stay on solid land where you're better off, it's understood
They're up to no good
They will wrap their long ropes around you

So when Marigold, sensible, said she loves an octopus
Everyone around town knew that couldn't come to good
They said "How could you
Let him wrap his long ropes around you?
And she said

"I've had writer's blocks for weeks on end
And he came with bottles of ink in his eight hands
And I think it's fine, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine
The ocean's such a divine place
So I've heard, for a while now

"See, I've loved every man that I can and from that I learned
I think I loved too much and threw up from what I wanna heard
I think what I really need is eight loving arms around me
But everybody says that you can't love an octopus
Their tentacles are strong enough to break your heart in half, I heard
But it don't really bother me, I need eight loving arms around me"

It was 17 years before anyone saw her again
Lone and upright, she began to recite in a bottle of ink with a quill pen
And she held it up over her head, said
"This is the mark I've made, don't you forget it"
And eight loving arms wrapped around her hips
They look like lovers of the ocean

Yay
